In changing and difficult times there is one thing that doesn’t change: God and His promises to us. I encourage you to focus on three things today:
1. Stay focused on what’s not changing, rather than what’s in constant change. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8. After all of this is over there will be many changes in our communities, jobs and lives in general. Although we are not sure how long this will last, what we do know is God’s unending love and plan for our life will never change.
2. Stay Focused on God’s Presence. You may be feeling the pressure of isolation, job loss and other problems, but I reassure you that you are not alone. “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2. Make the conscious choice today to replace your worry and anxiety with worship.
3. Stay focused on the future. This will pass, this is not the end of the world. “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” Romans 5:3-5
